Is there a fee to post an obituary?

Yes there is a fee.  The reason for the fee is to eliminate ads.  Many media platforms are free today.  However, those platforms profit off selling ads and customer information to third parties.  This website is designed specifically for the family with no sales gimmicks or data collection to be sold to third parties.

The Funeral Home is going to post an obituary on their website, so why should I post an obituary with checkobit.com?

We still encourage families to post obituaries with funeral homes. In fact, most of the time, we will provide a link to that obituary.

However, there are some important differences between checkobit.com and the funeral home websites. The funeral home website may have limitation as to what content you can include in the obituary. Most will allow one photo and obituary text and that’s all. Most will not allow for additional content including links to videos, articles, additional photos and so on as additional content requires long-term archiving.

Checkobit.com also provides a broader notification much like print media, however without the tremendous cost.

What types of content can I include in the obituary?

You can add the following content:

– Obituary text – Photos – Videos – Website links of other articles, etc.

Can I edit the obituary after I create it?

Yes, you will be able to preview the obituary after you create it. And you can log back into your account dashboard any time to preview, edit or delete your obituary at no additional cost.

Can I share on Social Media?

Yes, you can share the obituary on several different social media platforms, along with the option to share a link to it with friends and family using email.

How is customer data used?

Any customer data is solely for checkobit.com purposes. No data is sold or shared with third parties. The data is used only to optimize the functionality of the website.
